The Caribbean Opportunity
The Caribbean is blessed with vast and readily predictable solar resources. Yet almost all countries within the region depend on fossil fuels for more than half of their energy needs. The cost of energy in the Caribbean is amongst the highest in the world, while in some cases reliability is amidst the worst. Solutions will require local investment in order to be successful, however raising all of the required Capital in the region will be challenging and require support from international investors to enable value producing solutions.

JAMAICA
Jamaica has a high solar potential and set a renewable energy mix target of 30% by 2030. Presently Jamaica’s energy mix is comprised of 14% renewable energy on the public grid. Its electrical demand peaks at 660MW and its electricity prices are comparable relative to the rest of the Caribbean.
